+ Abstract

Proposals for improving the terms and definitions used in estuarine oceanography and hydrology, and for updating regulatory documentation in these areas of research are relevant, since uncertainty, lack of universality of individual terms, and sometimes inaccuracy reduce the quality and effectiveness of scientific and applied research. The controversial nature of the proposals available in the published papers initiates the development of standardization issues in the field of research of marine estuaries. Therefore, the purpose of this work is to improve the interpretations of previously proposed terms and definitions based on the criticism of the article by R.Y. Minkovskaya "Proposals to the State Standard "Marine estuaries" in the review by S.V. Lebedeva, which is aimed at improving the understanding of the main phenomena, processes, as well as the state of marine estuaries.
